Overview
In the framework of EIT Digital, a Knowledge and Innovation Community of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, we are turning our MyMeedia, platform into a secure and trusted cloud service. In the Digital Infrastructure Action Line and in collaboration with F-Secure we are building upon the F-Secure APIs to scan:
- links from social media posts and web feeds, and
- files that users upload.
TRUSTY is an initiative designed to strengthen trust, security, and reliability within the MyMeedia cloud platform. MyMeedia enables organisations such as events, brands, teams, and companies to rapidly create social-powered multimedia hubs by aggregating social media streams, web feeds, and user-uploaded content into curated collections and stories. Because this content often includes shortened links and files from multiple sources, ensuring safety and trust is critical.
TRUSTY addresses this challenge by integrating advanced malware detection and virus scanning directly into the MyMeedia content workflows. Links collected from social media posts, web feeds, and user-generated content are checked for malicious behaviour before being stored, displayed, or followed. This protects users from unsafe destinations and prevents the platform from unintentionally distributing harmful content.
In parallel, TRUSTY secures all user-uploaded files—such as documents, images, audio, and video—by scanning them for viruses before processing, publishing, or download. Clear visual indicators distinguish trusted content from flagged items, allowing users to interact with confidence while limiting the exposure of potentially harmful files.
By embedding trusted security technologies into every stage of content ingestion and publication, TRUSTY transforms MyMeedia into a secure, European cloud service comparable to large global platforms in terms of safety and reliability. This trusted-by-design approach increases user confidence, protects brand reputation, and gives MyMeedia a clear competitive advantage in the market for social-powered multimedia solutions.
