Overview
The EMMA Innovation Platform, partially funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme, is designed to redefine interactive storytelling and digital content marketing. It enables organisations to create richer, more engaging experiences that connect audiences with places, events, and stories through compelling, media-driven narratives.
EMMA empowers tourism destinations and event organisers across Europe to take full advantage of the latest advances in ICT, social media, and information management. The platform provides comprehensive digital tools to manage digital presence, extend existing content into cross-platform stories, and transform websites and mobile channels into interactive, media-rich communication hubs.
Through EMMA, organisations gain insights into how destinations and events are perceived online, can run and monitor social media campaigns, and guide the creation and reuse of user-generated content. By integrating content collection, analysis, and publishing workflows, the platform supports more informed decision-making and stronger engagement with travellers, visitors, and stakeholders.
The project is coordinated by IN2 and developed in close collaboration with Fondazione Sistema Toscana, which manages the digital tourism ecosystem of the Tuscany region, and the Frankfurter Buchmesse, the world’s leading publishing trade fair. These partnerships ensure that EMMA is grounded in real operational needs and supports the commercialisation of next-generation content management technologies for multimedia and social media storytelling.
Alongside IN2, as the coordinator, the following organisations formed the consortium:
- Vandejong Amsterdam, The Netherlands
- CERTH - Centre for Research and Technology Hellas, Greece
- Fondazione Sistema Toscana, Italy
- Frankfurter Buchmess, Germany
The results of EMMA have been incorporated into Tellit, a solution for content management and storytelling that IN2 has launched commercially.
